Since 2021 Netflix already has mobile games available in application stores, although its catalog for the moment is limited, it seems that this will change in the coming months, a source close to the streaming giant said that very soon 50 more games will arrive to increase its offer.
This was revealed by The Washington Post, who collected testimony from an employee at Netflix who has access to the company’s top brass, so it would be a matter of time before more video game titles appear.
Currently, in the Play Store you can find various applications among which Card Blast, Krispee Street, Asphalt Xtreme, Stranger Things 3: The game and Stranger Things: 1984 stand out, to have in total a catalog of 15 games, which can be accessed as long as you have an active subscription to Netflix.
Among the factors that are listed to further increase its offer in terms of video games, highlights the fact that just a week ago it was announced that the firm had lost subscribers for the first time in its history, in addition to the fact that already for a year it was in search of a new market in which they could stand out without as much competition as in streaming.
Even a week ago the N announced that it was in the process of developing a game for mobile devices that will recreate the board game Exploding Kittens.
It should be remembered that Netflix’s intention is to create its own video games, so it even has three different creative studios to its credit: Boss Fight Entertainment, Next Games -which has developed titles of The Walking Dead and Stranger Things, as well as Night School Studio, who manufactured a video game of the Mr. Robot series.
Mobile video games in general had a market that generated about 81.5 billion dollars in all of 2021, according to the company Statista. This is not a minor figure since it represented 52 percent of the entire gaming market.
