The Streaming platform, Netflix, revealed its earnings report for the second quarter of 2022, in which it announced that during the last three months, 970 thousand accounts were unsubscribed from its platform, this even despite the fact that during this season the launch of one of its most successful series was made, Stranger Things.
The fall in subscribers could seem bad news, the truth is that the giant of streaming services had budgeted that there would be an even greater loss, of up to two million subscribers in the period from April to June 2022.
It should be remembered that, during the first quarter, Netflix lost 200 thousand subscribers, of which, most of it was attributed to the departure of Russian customers after the invasion of Ukraine, several platforms were banned from Russia as a sanction.
However, even though there were red numbers, Netflix still has 220.67 million subscribers worldwide and they have growth expectations of one million by the end of the third quarter of 2022.
Among other novelties that were presented in the quarterly report, the fact that in the first part of 2023 a new subscription model will be launched that has as its main objective to offer more economic alternatives to its customers, so it will have advertisements in exchange for a lower monthly cost.
Everything seems to indicate that more and more countries will replicate the payment model of an extra sum for sharing the account, the amount will vary according to the countries that are designated.
ACQUISITION
Netflix told its partners that this year they will spend 18 billion dollars on content generation, including operations such as the acquisition of the animation studio Animal Logic, which was able to create successful films such as Lego Movies and Happy Feet, among others.
