Through German sources it has been announced that the next version of the Microsoft Windows 12 Operating System could arrive with a version in monthly subscription plan, thus modifying the business model of the Redmond Giant, the Windows 12 subscription would cost 10 USD per month and would arrive in 2 versions, one running locally and one from the cloud.
The above has not been confirmed by Microsoft, however, it is a possibility based on the business model of streaming and online services that would now expand to Operating Systems by Microsoft.
Windows 12 will be a modular version, rewritten from 0 that will feature greater compatibility with multiple devices and of course with a new visual interface. It will be developed for both x86 and ARM architectures.
Windows 12 will improve its AI features powered by the Copilot assistant that Microsoft has recently integrated into Windows 11 and its Edge browser.
Windows 12 Minimum Requirements.
To run successfully, Windows 12 will require the following minimum requirements:
- 64-bit x86 or ARM processor at least 1GHz
- 4GB DDR4 RAM
- 64 GB minimum storage
- UEFI with Secure Boot Support
- TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module)
- At least 9-inch display with a resolution of 1,366x768px
- DirectX 12 compatible GPU
- Internet Connection
Upgrading to Windows 12 will be free through Windows Update for those who already have an active Windows 11 license on PCs that meet the minimum requirements for running.
Windows 12 will be released in October 2024.
