Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a scientific field that is constantly expanding, and in recent years, it has experienced an exponential increase in both its utilization and challenges to become more independent. Therefore, within the future, possibilities of greater automation, personalization, and even learning are foreseen.

This means that the technologies to which we currently have access and that use artificial technology, such as Chat GPT or tools to create images from text, will have a promising future according to specialists, but these are not the only fields that are expected to revolutionize the world.

Real or computer-generated? The dilemma that comes in the coming years.

Currently, there are already extremely detailed tools that use artificial intelligence for image creation from text or even to recreate things that do not exist with a high degree of realism. However, it is expected that in the coming years, this technology will be further revolutionized, and even reach the point where it will not be possible to distinguish whether an audiovisual product is real or computer-generated.

This originates from the use of generative adversarial networks, technology that causes the use of generator entities and others called discriminatory to generate a result that the algorithm is unable to differentiate whether it is created by AI or not.

Advantages of increased realism include the fact that banks of images containing thousands or millions of works that will be copyright-free can be generated, which would undoubtedly have high use in the academic, commercial, and even leisure sectors.

There are even projects that seek to use this technology to create false genetic code by creating DNA sequences that do not belong to anyone and that can help for scientific purposes.

At the same time, researchers in the field have expressed that neuro-symbolic Artificial Intelligence is also a promising field due to advances expected in recognition patterns used by intelligence systems so that through this branch, AI can recognize symbols, give them a semantic and logical meaning and then perform complex tasks with fewer amounts of data and training, which could generate an AI that can respond to reasoning and even explain why it has made its decisions.

According to a special report by MIT, 2023 will be crucial for Artificial Intelligence; the next language model update performed by OpenAI that brought ChatGPT is expected to arrive, which already made several headlines in media due to its fluency. In that sense, it is expected that in the future, it will not only be limited to text, but that in the coming months, there will be intelligences that can recognize things that appear in images more precisely, and this will be part of a conversational response.

Specific use of AI in the future: from tasks to simplify human life to responses in the scientific field.

With the increase in AI personalization, a larger amount of data will be analyzed in less time in the future, which would contribute to fields such as education, e-commerce, and advertising having a high level of personalization without human intervention. The field that is currently more advanced in this sense is advertising since there are software specifically designed to collect the data that a user inputs in their searches, conversations, and other online presences to suggest products that may interest them.

Although it may sound somewhat futuristic, the interaction between humans and artificial intelligence is already a daily occurrence. AI is used in virtual assistants or smart home systems. While this has surprised some people, in a few years, it is expected that this technology will continue its development and can be used in fields such as medicine to diagnose and treat diseases with greater precision and speed.

Artificial Intelligence and its ethical use, one of the main challenges.

The growth of technology also brings ethical challenges, and artificial intelligence is not exempt from this. At all times, it must guarantee fair and transparent decisions, as well as protect the privacy of people’s data and ensure that they are used responsibly.

In this sense, experts in the field agree that artificial intelligence must guarantee transparency and be easily explainable, as well as the confidentiality of the data of individuals, whether physical or moral.

The ethical field also includes the need for AIs to be programmed in such a way that they ensure that discrimination is avoided, since, when functioning with a large amount of data, they may contain bias towards an ideology that goes against certain groups of people. This means that it will be the creators’ responsibility to ensure proper functioning with a human rights perspective, always respecting freedom of expression, privacy, or freedom of association.

Although there are several possible futures for Artificial Intelligence, it is clear that with the growth of technology, there will also be dilemmas in its use. There are also several possibilities for growth in the field, so we will undoubtedly have to be aware of new releases, as this is expected to make human life easier and more efficient in areas such as education, commerce, and, of course, personal life.
