Just nine months after Android 12 was officially released, Google announced that the first beta version of Android 13 is ready, which has been released for developers.

According to the Android 13 Developer Preview 1 version, the main novelties focus on design and privacy, there will be an extension of the dynamic Material You themes towards the icons of third-party applications. It should be remembered that these dynamic themes were barely introduced in Android 12.

The icons can be adapted to the dark theme and will match the colors of the chosen theme.

On privacy issues, Google reported that the new version of the system for smartphones or smartphones aims to incorporate a multimedia content selector, which will allow you to share specific images or videos without the application accessing all user content.

Another feature to mention is that in Android 13 several languages can be applied at the same time, the user will be able to choose in the system the language of his preference for each application.

The first version does not show relevant changes compared to Android 12, it is expected that in the coming months new features will continue to be added. Based on Google’s calendar, the Developer Preview will arrive in March expecting it to be made public a few months later to all users in its beta form.

Currently Android 13 is only available in system image format, which must be installed manually for use. Among the smartphones that can «run» Android 13 for developers are the Google Pixel from the fourth generation to the sixth.
