The video game brand Epic Games will now venture into the metaverse, according to an announcement made, which specifies that three different investors contributed up to one billion dollars with the aim of creating their new virtual space.
According to the publication available on the technology company’s website, Sony Group Corporation and Kirkbi, which is an investor in the LEGO Group, joined Epic Games in order to create a new social entertainment “that explores the connection between the physical and digital worlds”.
“This investment will accelerate our work to build the metaverse and create spaces where players can have fun with their friends, brands can build creative and immersive experiences, and creators can build community and thrive,” Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic Games, said in the statement.
This is a few days after the presentation of the new Unreal Engine 5 game engine, which has among its achievements to make an audiovisual product of Matrix in which Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss appear completely manufactured digitally and with a definition that stands out for its clarity and quality.
Therefore, it is expected that Unreal Engine 5 will be one of the cornerstones for the development of the new Epic metaverse, it has already been demonstrated that with the mechanism immersive digital spaces can be manufactured.
The announcement is not surprising considering that a few days ago, the LEGO toy firm and Epic Games announced a pact through which they will seek to work together for the manufacture of a place that is specific to children in the metaverse.
